Protecting your vehicle painted surfaces is an important consideration for may customers. At Eye for Detail we offer several levels of protection depending on your budget and length of protection desired. Maybe you just want a nice glossy shine after a wash. Or perhaps you’re looking for some extra protection heading in to the winter months. We also offer multi year Nanodiamond coatings that can protect your car from contamination and abrasion in addition to giving a caramel-like surface gloss.

Level 1 – Wash and Shine

The first option is for those who are just interested in a quality hand wash resulting in a glossy shine.  This focuses on dirt removal and does not include any additional polishing or long lasting protective coatings.  The level 1 wash consists of meticulous wheel cleaning, spot free reverse-osmosis water, foamy wash, blow dry with towel finish, optional tire dressing and P&S Beadmaker paint gloss/sealer to top it off.

Level 2 – 6 Month Protection

The next option starts with the exterior wash above. However, instead of the Beadmaker protectant a ceramic sealant is used.  Following the wash, is a clay bar treatment to remove embedded contaminants.  Next is an application of Gtechniq C2v3 ceramic sealant. C2v3 Liquid Crystal is the revolutionary way to keep your car’s painted surfaces cleaner for longer!  Once applied, it will give up to 6 months of protection. This product it makes maintaining painted surfaces easier during the seasons’ dull and dismal weather.

Level 3 – 12+ Month Protection (Adams Graphene Ceramic)

This level of protection steps up the game by using the latest graphene and ceramic technology. This is more than just a spray on coating. You can expect 12-18 months of protection from this product. Benefits include higher scratch resistance from washes as well as increased depth and clarity. The preparation is similar to Level 2 above, removing contaminants and using a clay bar/mitt if necessary. Installation takes a bit longer and should be performed out of direct sunlight.

Level 4  – 36 Month Protection (Diamond Body 36)

The highest level of protection uses the Diamond Body 36 product from Diamond Protech. Diamond Body 36 uses Nanodiamonds (literally diamonds that are only a few nanometers in size) along with Perhydropolysilazane which is a fully transparent polymer and the hardest non-organic material on earth. The Diamond Body 36 product is engineered to provide three years of protection.

To ensure proper longevity, preparation is key to this process. There are several steps used to prepare the paint for the coating application. These include, thorough wash, clay mitt/bar to remove surface contaminants, paint correction (using machine polishers to remove scratches and swirl marks) and finally a paint preparation chemical to remove any traces of waxes or other coatings.

After the first coat is installed, we repeat the process with a second coating.  The entire process should be performed in a garage space and can take an average of 8 hours. The result is 36 months of hydrophobic, oleophobic, UV and scratch protection. Not to mention a vehicle that will look amazing!

Diamond Glass Windshield Coating

Your car windshield is your window to the world. Diamond Glass protects from dirt, oil, insects, and maintains fantastic hydrophobic properties. Diamond Glass offers your car windshield extreme repellency to water, ice, and dirt.  This nanodiamond coating provides long-term professional results offering up to 12 months of hydrophobic protection.

The Diamond Glass product does a great job of helping to keep your windshield clean and improves visibility especially in inclement weather.  If you have ever used RainX before, this provides a similar benefit.  Water beads up and rolls off the glass easily.  The product also provides dirt and ice repellency making your windshield stay cleaner.  Wipers glide easily across the smooth surface.  It really does make a difference!

Paint Correction (polishing)

The process of paint correction is designed to remove light scratches and swirl marks which have appeared in the paint over time. These come from any kind of dry contact with the paint. Even wiping the dust off a dry car with a towel can leave small scratches on the clear coat surface. The process of correction involves the use of dual action (DA) motorized polishers. This process removes a very thin layer of the clear coat to eliminate most of the scratches and swirl marks.

Note that any scratch you can feel with a fingernail is likely too deep to be removed with this process. We can make them less visible but deep scratches may require additional care and possibly touch up paint.

We refer to paint correction by the number of passes and percentage of scratches removed. A single pass correction means we go over the entire vehicle once.  This will remove the light swirl marks and scratches.  You can expect about 50% improvement but this is highly dependent on the starting condition of the paint.  Using a single pass polish with a fine polishing compound may be suitable for newer vehicles with only minor swirl marks.  Cars with heavy swirls/scratches will see a marked improvement but the single pass will likely not remove all the defects.

The 60% to 80% correction process involves multiple passes starting with a coarse polishing compound which is then followed up with a fine compound. This is a much more time consuming process and may be needed if your paint is has numerous scratches and swirl marks.

Paint correction is an important precursor to any advanced, long-term coating. This is because the coating will “lock in” the paint condition for the duration of its lifetime. Any scratches or marks present when the coating is applied cannot be polished out without removing the coating.
