As mentioned in our philosophy page, an interior detail typically takes 3 hours but can go longer in case the vehicle is larger or extremely dirty. The “Full Meal Deal” includes an interior and exterior detail at a discounted price. See Packages for more information.

The descriptions below are intended to help customers understand the terminology used. For example, when we say “hydrophobic” it doesn’t mean someone with a fear of water. Hopefully this will help you better understand some of the services offered.

Interior vacuum
This is fairly self-explanatory. Using a high powered vacuum with various attachments we suck as much dirt out of the carpets, floor mats, seats, under the seats and cargo areas as possible. This includes pet hair which usually requires a special brush to lift hair from the carpet fibers as vacuuming alone is often not sufficient.

Clean floor mats
Whether rubber, plastic or carpeted, floor mats are removed, vacuumed and then shampooed or spot cleaned. We can usually remove all but the most stubborn carpet stains using specialized carpet cleaners, hand held or motorized carpet brushes. Excess cleaner/water is vacuumed with a dedicated carpet extractor to make drying time as short as possible.

Clean floors/carpets
As with floor mats above, we spot clean or shampoo carpets as needed. After applying the specalized carpet cleaner, we then agitate using a stiff brush to lift dirt and stains. Finally, the excess water/cleaner is extracted. If carpets require shampooing they may be damp for several hours after the procedure.

Upholstery
Similar to carpeting, upholstery may only require spot cleaning or a full shampoo may be needed. We take extra care to avoid saturating the seats as this may require additional drying time before the vehicle is drivable. Leather upholstery requires special pH balanced cleaners as well as a post cleaning conditioner to prevent drying out the surface.

Doors/dash/cup holders
Some of the most intricate cleaning is performed in the driver and passenger areas. This involves spending time and moving methodically through the vehicle to ensure every nook and cranny is addressed. We use special interior surface cleaners on areas such as door interiors, armrests, steering wheel. These cleaners are formulated to remove dirt without leaving a heavy film behind. Special boar’s hair brushes are used to clean dust from vents and other crevices. Cup holders can sometimes be a sticky mess so they may require special attention to return them to their factory-new state.

Headliner
The headliner is the most delicate part of the vehicle interior. Fortunately, it seldom gets extremely dirty. Because the headliner is glued to the vehicle roof, excessive moisture or vigorous scrubbing can cause it to detach and sag. For light spots or stains we carefully apply a minimal amount of cleaning solution and dab away the dirt with a micro fiber towel. We may use a small amount of steam if necessary for difficult spots.

Steam cleaner
Depending on the level of dirt or spills we may use a steam cleaner. This speeds up the work of cleaning out sticky spills and also reduces the amount of water needed – this means shorter drying times. In addition the heat from the steam opens the pores of organic materials allowing the dirt to be extracted without excessive use of chemical cleaners. Plus steam cleaners are really fun!

Windows
All interior detail packages include cleaning the inside and outside of all glass surfaces. We use the two microfiber towel method to avoid streaking and use a non-ammonia glass cleaner which is window tint safe.

Hydrophobic coating
Hydrophobic in the detail industry simply means the surface sheds water. For paint, it means you see water roll off in large droplets rather than stay on the surface in sheets. One service we provide is a hydrophobic coating for the exterior windshield. This involves first cleaning all of the contaminants using a razor blade and clay bar, then cleaning the glass as we would normally. This is followed by a product like RainX or a quality Carnuba wax. This allows the wipers to glide smoothly across the surface and causes water to bead and flow off the windshield during those rainy days.

Interior Surface Protectant
When you hear this some of you might think of the old Armor All spray. It provided a nice shine but was usually greasy and not something you would want on your interior. Well, chemical technology has come a long way. Chemicals like Aerospace 303 Protectant provide ultra violet protection to your plastic or other synthetic surfaces as well as shedding dust. This is done while also adding a nice matte finish. However, even with these properties, we don’t apply this protectant to surfaces such as steering wheel, pedals or shifter to avoid safety issues.
